Family ETA Visas
It is a minimum requirement of Australian Laws that each person coming into Australia has;
(1) a valid passport
(2) a legal entry visa
(3) a financial capacity to support themselves
This means that every person in your family coming to Australia for a holiday of less than 3 months, must have their own ETA Visa.
Children are also required to have 1 ETA visa per child.
This can be either on your passport or on their own passport.
These days, many children will have their own passport, so you are required by law to register the ETA using the exact passport of the child the ETA is being applied for.
If the child shares your passport, then you must use your passport and their personal details when you apply. (Date of birth, country of birth etc may be different from your own.)
